01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

At Koimari, a distinctive way to enjoy cake is to pair sponge and cream with the chewy texture of mochi. The Koimari Roll is filled with specially made fresh cream and soft sponge wrapped around mochi, and is presented as the shop’s signature. One diner who tried it said they liked the combination of fresh cream and mochi, making it an appealing choice for anyone after a texture that differs from a classic cake.

One customer bought the strawberry shortcake alongside the Koimari Roll and the Michelle, and remembered the restrained sweetness of the cream, the tartness of the strawberries and the smooth sponge. The menu also includes a shortcake generously topped with strawberries, as well as celebration cakes layered with specially made fresh cream. Choose a slice to try, or a whole cake for a special occasion.

For chocolate lovers, there is the Michelle: a slice cake layered with fresh chocolate cream and chocolate sponge, then topped with a rich chocolate sauce. The customer mentioned above recalled that the chocolate on top seemed to melt in the mouth. They tried the shortcake, roll and Michelle separately, enjoying them with tea and water in between—a useful approach when choosing several cakes.

To go with a cake, consider the moist almond-flour financier or madeleines, which are also popular as gifts. Seasonal tarts are available too; the fig tart, for example, is described as combining house-made custard and fresh cream. You can choose in the shop, take your order away or collect it at the entrance, with options to suit anything from a treat for yourself to a gift.
